What a great find!

Call me a maths nerd, but I purchased this book today and I'm teling you it's the best thing I've ever bought in the past 3 months? 6 months?

I've been looking everywhere for this book! The Trachtenberg Speed System of Basic Mathmetics. During my internship in April last year, I would read this book at Book Xcess during my lunch hour but since I was always broke, I didn't buy it.

Recently, I finally made up my mind to buy it, and I surfed Book Xcess' website and this book is no longer available! Luckily I managed to get it at Popular Ampang Point today, even though it's twice the price than the one at Book Xcess. I should've bought this book at Book Xcess last time. It was RM17.90 only! =(

Anyway, right now I'm having fun teaching myself the Trachtenberg maths (Trachtenberg was an engineer, by the way). Now I can multiply any huge numbers by eleven without using a calculator!

A page turner..

It's hard to put the book down!

See what The Times said about this book on its cover? COOL ANGRY AND STYLISH. So true!

One of the best books I've ever read.

What I bought with my birthday money...

After keeping my birthday money safely in my piggy bank for ages (well, 3 months to be exact), I finally found some things I like (and need), so today I spent it.

Went to KLCC. All the way I was thinking, "It's recession Nana! What the hell are you doing in a shopping mall??" But another voice told me that if I don't buy those things I want, I will experience sleepless nights.

So I bought these things:

This bag is from Dorothy Perkins. I've always wanted a bag like this. Black, spacious, err...durable. Don't know how to describe it. But it fits the bill of The Bag I Want.

Clinique All About Eyes eye cream, Anti-Blemish Clearing Concealer, free toiletries pouch and free moisturizer.
Thanks dear!

By the way, I would strongly recommend this book. It's the bestest Little Black Dress book ever!
Anyone who has had their heart broken by an evil ex will enjoy this! It's funny, the way Maddy(the main character) plots revenge against her ex, Carlton. The writer did a really great job in potraying Carlton as the biggest jerk on the planet, I'm sure you'll hate him as much as I do!Hehe.
This book also send out the message that life has its ups and downs. Just because your life is in the dumpster doesn't mean you're fated to be like that forever. You'll just have to work hard and have a positive mental attitude to suceed. This is a chick lit and motivational book rolled into one.
Anyway...
My mum has gone back to JB...for a week! Errk. This coming week will be a Modern Wife Training Module for me. Office work + house chores.
Go to work, come home and do the laundry, clean the house...and now that my mum's gone I'll have to be Koko's mummy. That cat is supernice to me now. She doesn't even try to scratch me. Ha! That's because she's stuck with me and my mum's not home!

It's Saturday!

And I'm nursing a flu. Grr...
I feel awful. My throat feels "clogged" with phlegm. My nose is stuffy with snot. And my nose is itchy too. Even the slightest bit of dust can make me sneeze.

More work stories...

I just love Fridays! First, there's the long lunch break (12.30-2.30pm). I would go window shopping while Mr.Y went for his Friday prayer. Susah la office dekat dengan shopping mall. Even though there's not much shops, but as long as there's Watsons or bookstores, it's enough to make my cash flow out like water. Haha. And I have to wait for weeks to get my salary.

Oh, there's a flea market every Friday outside the office. They sell mostly jewelleries, bags and cute yummy cupcakes! It's a good thing that I only have about a few RM left in my purse, if not I would have bought those cupcakes.

I've finished reading My Sister's Keeper (Jodi Picoult) and A Thousand Splendid Suns(Khaled Hosseini).

Rating:

My Sister's Keeper: 9/10
A Thousand Splendid Suns: 8/10

New shoes!

Went to Ikea with my parents today, coz my mum was looking for new cover for the sofa. Last time I went to Ikea/Ikano/The Curve with my parents was 3 years ago. Usually we prefer to go to shopping malls which are near to our house (KLCC, Ampang Point, Great Eastern, Bkt Bintang area). Yang jauh2 ni malas nak pegi!

I was looking for high heeled shoes. I saw one in Vincci catalogue which I really like, but in the end ended up buying something else.

This one has a 3.5-inch heels. I'm too chicken to buy anything higher than that (considering those health problems related to wearing heels). Price: RM44, my dad paid. And I'm not gonna wear this 3.5-inch heels all the time, only during special occasions when I'll be surrounded by tall people. Haha.

I also bought another heels. Price:RM 26.95. I bought this one first, but then realized its too dull after I left the shop. So that's why I decided to buy another one. This one has 3-inch heels.

For everyday wear, I chose 2.5-inch heels maximum.

I also bought a couple of tops. 50% discount.
And....I bought some of my favourite things. Books! Books also got sale. Hehe. It's my lucky day. I've always wanted to buy the LBD book Blue Remembered Heels by Nell Dixon. And I also bought the Twilight book! It's a bestseller (I'm always easily influenced by bestsellers) and the movie's a hit so I want to find out how good the story is! My other purchase is The Infinite Wisdom of Harriet Rose. The storyline seems interesting, and the cover's really nice too! But the thing is, WHEN will I have the time to read all these books? Hehe.

Cupcakes and dolls

Last week I went to KLCC and saw some scrumptious-looking cupcakes at Bakin' Boys. I wanted to try it but my mum said it's overpriced and probably doesn't taste as good as homemade ones. So I sulked like a little kid.

Today went to KLCC again coz I wanted to find the Marks & Spencer Lavender 3-in-1 Body, Room and Linen Spray. I was determined to try the cupcake. And my mum, she's being kind this time, agreed. She even tried one too.

The cupcake was delicious. Very sweet though. RM4 each.

My cupcake!

I remember the time when everyone was crazy about those cute cupcakes. At that time I could only find cupcakes in Damansara. Lots of cupcake shops there. Cupcake Chic,Wondermilk (Up until now I still dunno where on earth is Wondermilk). It's hard to find cupcakes here in Ampang, and I tried searching for it when I'm in Subang. None!

Now cupcakes are available in Ampang. Yeay! I've tried those cupcakes at one of the kiosks in Great Eastern mall. Taste really good, not too sweet. A large sized cupcake cost RM3.50, and it's RM10 for three. That's the cheapest cupcake I could find.

You can also try the cupcakes at The Lawn, KLCC. Yummy as well. Priced at RM5 each I think.
At Cupcake Chic, it's RM4.50 each.

Anyway, back to the main objective why I went to KLCC. I couldn't find the 3-in-1 spray. Instead, I bought the lavender anti-perspirant deodorant. I thought the deodorant is like Impulse, you can use it as a body spray as well. But it's not! The M&S deodorant left a white residue after you spray it. Kind of ruined whatever fabric that you spray it on. Inilah akibatnya nak berjimat cermat sangat. I was hesitant to spend RM177 on the L'Occitane lavender spray, and RM120 for Crabtree & Evelyn lavender water.

OK, the lavender thing is a big dissappointment. Buttttt....I found something that I really like at Kinokuniya. Momiji dolls! In other words, those cute Japanese dolls. (I never grow up, always young at heart :) )

I bought one of the dolls. It's sooo hard to pick which one I like coz all of them are so supercute! I finally decided on a doll called "Clever Clogs." Each dolls has its own personality.

This is Clever Clogs

Laughing

For example, this doll is called "Laughing." Personality? "I like integral calculus!," it says on the box. By the way, the dolls come in a noodle box.

My doll, Clever Clogs, likes boys who wear glasses. Same as me. Or more specifically, a boy with glasses. Hehe.

The doll comes with a really nice box!

It is protected by an inflated pillow as well

The badge and sticker included in the box

Next I'm gonna buy Funny Girl. She likes alfalfa sprouts and quiz shows. Isn't she adoreable???
Funny Girl

Giggles

My mum likes Giggles. I don't. I think she looks fat.

This is Pixie. I like her colour. But she looks like one of those Jepun celup. Asians look weird with blond hair ok!

I like Soul too. But her eyes are so sepet.

Anyway, a few days ago my dad attended a course. He got these books for free! These books are on my wishlist! :D

I'm so happy coz this week only 3 days of classes. Another reason why I'm happy is that even though yesterday I pigged out during the buffet lunch with Mr.Y's family at Hilton, eating all those cupcakes and chocs, my weight is still maintained at 45kg. *clap clap*

Selamat hari raya aidiladha

Spend raya haji in KL (yeay!).

It's a very boring holiday. But it's OK, coz I love staying at home feeling bored. I'm a homely person, you see.

Went to MPH Great Eastern mall coz they're having a 3-for-2 sale. I was hoping to buy Rich Dad,Poor Dad (Mr.Y wants this book too), Shopaholic & Baby and Who Moved My Cheese. But when I got there, Shopaholic & Baby was out of stock. And there were only OLD copies of Rich Dad,Poor Dad. And I was having second thoughts about Who Moved My Cheese.

I've always wanted to buy motivational books. But once I got my hand on a copy, I hesitated before making my way to the cashier. I thought that those self-help books can benefit me in terms of self development. But the contents are so...LAME. And the titles are embarassingly cheesy. So I think, those self-help books are not for me. My life isn't so screwed up so I don't need them.

So I went home empty-handed (but with plenty of cash in my purse).

I love books. But I'm always debating which books I should buy. I'm a fan of chick lits. They're great when you first bought them, but once you've read the whole book? I'm not the kind of person who read the same book twice. So I think paying RM35.90 for a book you only read once is not worth it. Except if it's a Little Black Dress book, coz it's only RM19.90. But still, things like these accumulates over time. And like I mentioned, I only read them once!

But I always ignore all these thoughts in my head and proceed to buy the book anyway :p

Once I'm home, I tried studying for the Soil quiz, but I couldn't get pass even one sentence in the book.

**********
Note to self: always try makeup before buying it. Especially eyeshadows. I love eyeshadows that have a rich colour, high pigment, however you may describe it. Sometimes, I would buy eyeshadows that looks DARK but when applied, the shade is really light.
Best eyeshadow brand: L'Oreal
Worst eyeshadow brand: Maybelline, Rimmel
I think MAC has great eye colours as well.

Handbag charm bracelet

This lovely rhodium-plated charm bracelet is featured in the latest Malaysia Airlines' Temptations catalogue. I love the little handbag-shaped pendants. Price: RM78. Plus free necklace. In the catalogue, the free necklace is a cute silver necklace with a handbag pendant too. But on the Temptations website, the free necklace is a plain silver chain with two interlocking rings. I want this charm bracelet!!! It's so cute, and it reflects my personality (I'm addicted to handbags).

Went to KLCC. Got a RM10 Kinokuniya voucher so this is what I got for myself! My third recipe book!
I know the previous recipe book that I bought is also on Asian rice dishes, but this one is different. Perfect book for beginners coz the recipes are simple and basic. It features more rice recipes...Chinese fried rice, Malay style fried rice, kai lan with oyster sauce, fried rice with salted fish, tomato rice, all kinds of fried rice lah..Got recipes for nasi lemak, chicken rice, lontong (rice cakes with vegetable curry) and chicken briyani also. OK,OK, enough, I'm fasting and it makes my mouth water.
Right now I'm craving for expensive food. I want premium ice creams (Haagen Dazs), I want choccies like Fidani, Godiva...I want all the pastas at Dome Cafe, and those chocolatey drinks they have.

A brief history of honeymoon

The book "A Year in High Heels" is so cool.

A few things in it that I find interesting:

The history of honeymoon

The tale goes that in northern Europe...once upon a time, a new bride was abducted from the neighbouring village. In order to keep his bride, the groom/abductor took her to an unknown hiding place, and had his wicked way :D
He waited till the bride's family gave up the search.

The wedge

The wedge was invented by Salvatore Ferragamo in 1936.

It's my favourite kind of footwear. The advantage of wedges over a stiletto is that there is more generous centre of gravity, so you can run all day. My wishlist!!

I still want the bag. Still haven't found the perfect bag for me. I'm not so happy with the Roxy bag. Nevermind, next week is long weekend coz of National Day. Yipee! Time for shopping.

Oh, and I want a multi cooker! Induction cookers are more expensive, so a multi cooker will be perfect for me cooking at my apartment.

Finally got my loan. Yay.
Last time, I NEVER look forward to have the study loan in my bank account. When the loan came in, I was like, yeah, OK, whatever. I couldn't care less.
But apparently, as you grow older, there comes a time when your parents stopped topping up the money in your bank.
That's when you start counting the days when your loan will come.
Just like all your friends do.

So with RM500 in my account, I went to KLCC today. (By the way, RM500 used to be a huge amount. Now I'm thinking how to survive on that money til I get the loan for next semester. What's happening to me??)

Bought an indigo full skirt at Warehouse (50% discount) and two books at Kinokuniya.
Hopscotch & Handbags.
A Year in High Heels.

The kind of books I lurrrve.

Beware of fillings! Prevent cavity!

Today I indulged in my favourite activity: SHOPPING for HEALTH BOOKS. As you all know, I'm a hypochondriac, a shopaholic and a bookworm. So that is why I had so much fun today!
At home, I started reading one of the books and it says that tooth filling can lead to infertility due to its mercury content. This is only for silver and black filling, the non-toxic white filling is harmless. So I told my mum to look into my mouth and tell me the color of my filling. It's really hard coz my filling is at the last tooth at the back. Mum said that she saw only white stuff.I said that's my tooth, not the filling. She insisted that my filling is white. I hope that is true. *Worry*Worry*

B-o-r-e-d

I know there are many times I've said "I'm bored" but today boredom is at its worst.
My mum went back to JB to pick up my car(yes,I'm getting my own car!) so it's just me and my dad today.
I'm incharge of more of the house chores since mum's gone. I know it sounds weird but I kinda enjoy it. Honestly I prefer house chores 10x more than studying. Maybe I should become a housewife.
All I did today was workout my abdominals (I'm getting less motivated each day, I didn't see any difference!), and finish reading The Matchbreaker. It's a great read! I'd give it 10/10! Apart from that I have nothing to do.
I'm not a telly person either. Everything on tv just bores me.
I'm so weird coz I wanna be a housewife and I don't like tv.
Anyway today I replace my mum as Koko's Siamese twin. It's so annoying she follows me everywhere. It's like we're attached by several blood vessels and 3 major organs.

Do you remember the first time?

I've finished reading Jenny Colgan. Good book. If I had a chance to go back in time like the character Flora, I will certainly choose to be 19 again coz that's when I'm about to finish my foundation. I will immediately apply to change course from electrical to civil so that I will not waste my one semester spending my Friday mornings dealing with the oscilloscope. Not to mention circuit class almost every day. Depressing.
I'm reading The Matchbreaker by Chris Manby now. Seems like a good write, judgding from the first two chapters.

1st day of my long-awaited holiday

Bored.

The BF rarely communicate with me.Wonder what he's up to?

Have started reading. The book: Do You Remember The First Time by Jenny Colgan.

Anyways, this morning I was indulging in one of "window shopping" experience as ISetan sent a new catalogue to my house and I dunno whether to feel happy or sad but...
Vera Wang made a new perfume...Flower Princess. And it's pink. So gorgeous. It must smell good too. Floral scent.
And there's this totally chic Nine West shoulder bag, it has a huge star on it, it cost RM299 but 50% off for members. I'm have the membership card -____-

I'm having a tough time here. Kept thinking about it all day. No way I can go to KLCC and buy it. I've sworn off shopping. Urghh this is hard.

I'm getting sick of having to apply tea tree oil all the time. Pimples, please dissappear.
And I'm getting bored of working out too. Why can't I have a naturally fantastic figure? Why can't I be naturally beautiful?

PS I Love You

My bf agreed to watch the PS I Love You movie with me. Well, the main reason he's up for it is because one of James Blunt's songs is on the soundtrack, not because of the movie itself. But who cares right? It's hard to get your bf to watch a romantic flick with you. I still can't believe he's willing :)
Btw, got the cleansing milk back from my mum :D. Gave her the lip gloss instead. Heehee.
