Foundation year = zaman dye rambut

Schools don't allow you to dye your hair. But in university? Freedom!

My foundation year in Uniten was the time when I first experimented with different kind of looks. That was the time I changed my eye and hair colour. Most of the girls in my batch were fashionistas, and I didn't wanna be left out! Hehe.

I got bored with my jet black hair. So I went to the salon and spent my 2 weeks allowance on a highlight. I wanted to go brunette. I brought a hair extension with me and told the hairstylist I wanted that exact same colour. He/she did a very good job. My hair was bleached (I looked scary at first) and then the brunette shade is applied. I had to sit for hours, but after seeing the outcome, it was worth it.

Last day industrial training!

So how does my supervisor summarized my training?

"Maybe you can become an actress or work in the fashion industry."

I wonder if it's a good thing or a bad thing.

How we spend our anniversary

23rd June 2009 was our anniversary. Mr.Y and I had been together for 3 years.

If the anniversary falls on a Saturday or Sunday, we could go somewhere special for lunch or watch movie, but it's on a Tuesday. We spent it at a district cooling plant in Bangsar. We got the opportunity to learn how the district cooling plant provides chilled water for air-conditioning purposes for multiple buildings.

Close up view of the Thermal Energy Storage tank. This tank stores cooling energy at night for air conditioning purposes during the day.

You can feel the cool air once you enter this plant, but somehow I was sweating.

PERINGATAN! KAWASAN >90dBa. Sila pakai earplugs!
Ice balls...I think it cools the water. Ha ha I'm such a bimbo.

After the visit, we went back to Amcorp and we had lunch at Kenny Rogers.

Munirah's wedding

The wedding took place on 20th June 2009 at Summit Hotel. I did not came as a guest, instead I had some duties. I had to usher the VIP guests into the ballroom.

I got the dress code wrong. The theme color for family members was champagne .
Initially I planned on wearing a cream-coloured kebaya which would match all the bridesmaids’ dresses, but my mum bought me this brown kebaya with sequins. I thought “Nevermind, this will match the guys’ colour” but guess what? It didn’t. So I stood out, with my brown kebaya. The colour was more Coca Cola rather than champagne :p :p :p

I permed my hair. I did it with the help of curling iron and a can of hairspray. My mum helped curl my hair at the back. She used plastic rollers. The curls turned out better with plastic rollers than with the curling iron.

I did my own makeup. I lined my upper lids with Revlon ColorStay eyeliner, and applied some eyeshadow. I left my lower lids bare. When I arrived at the hotel, all the girls were doing their makeup and one of Mr.Y’s cousins, Zati, offered to do my makeup. I accepted her offer graciously.

Since I’ve already worn my foundation, she only touched up my eyeliner and dab on some blusher. She did an amazing job with the blusher, contouring my face and all that. Oh, and she lined my lower lids. To make my eyes pop-out in pictures, she said.

Before the ceremony started, all the family members (that include moi), had to take an early lunch. Oh my God the food was fabulous! I lurrrved the sweet n sour fish fillet.

Turned out that I did not have to do any ushering, all of the guests are capable of finding their tables.

Anyway, I can’t write much about the wedding as I didn’t get the chance to witness it. 90% of my time was spent loitering around the hotel. And 99% of the time people were saying that Mr.Y and I are next (getting married), and people seemed to look forward to our wedding. Even my mum. Yes, my mum. The woman who used to be reluctant about me getting married. She asked me and Mr.Y to sit on the pelamin and pose for a picture. I said no way. She even went to Ampang Point’s wedding exhibition and got some brochures for me. I mean, seriously Mum do you really have to do that? I ni blaja pun tak habis.

And guess what? My parents were seated next to my lecturer!  Fortunately, my lecturer told my parents “Liyana is a good student. She’s a fast learner” and not “Liyana spent the laboratory session taking photos.”

Munirah threw her bouquet of flowers like what Western brides always do (the girl who catch it will be the next one getting married). I didn’t catch it. I just stood there watching all the other girls struggling to grab the bouquet. Haha. Later Munirah was like “Nana why didn’t you catch it???” Hahaha.

OK, that’s all I can write about the wedding. As I said, I didn’t witness much of it. I hope Munirah and Adam will live happily ever after! Hehehe.

Munirah's akad nikah

Date: 13th June 2009 (Saturday)
Venue : Al-Falakh Mosque, USJ 9
Time: 10am

Munirah is Mr. Y's elder sister. Last Saturday she married the love of her life, Adam. Haha jiwang plak ayat I.

Gosh I was supernervous about attending the nikah ceremony coz I'd be meeting all of Mr.Y's family members.

I was clad in bright pink head to toe. Bright, retina-frying shade of pink.

The mosque got no air-cond. I was sweating like mad. How embarassing.

Mr.Y's cousins are all very tall, and I was the shortest one in the mosque. Well, except for the kids, but they're kids, so they don't count.

Hmm why am I writing in short sentences? Have I lost my ability to write after not blogging for almost two weeks?

OK I don't know what else to say.

Group family photo. I think you can spot me easily (bright pink!).

New department

I changed department again and this time, I was transferred into a whole new office.

I had to make a new swipe card, so in the mean time I can't go out to pee or have breakfast.

The new office's environment is so different from my previous office. Seems like everyone follow the rules. I didn't dare to go out to grab a bun or something, and I didn't login to Facebook coz no one does. I didn't even refill my water tumbler at the pantry coz there's always someone there and I'm so shy!

One of the engineers told me to design a weir. I told him I'll give him the design on my last day at the office, but he said he want it in 3 days time. Haha.

So tomorrow I have to bring my Hydraulic notes, Fluid Mechanics and Environmental Engineering books.

Nana IT Centre

I have a couple of computer stuffs which I want to let go of.

The first thing is a brand new HP DESKJET F4280 ALL-IN-ONE PRINTER. SOLD!

Bought this at the Harvey Norman sale recently for RM207. The reason why I'm selling this is because the printer driver cannot be installed on my laptop. It's totally Windows problem, this printer is fine. I'm selling this for RM200.
This printer is an investment, I tell you! For RM200, it can print, scan and copy. You won't have to set foot in a photocopy shop after this! I haven't sell it but I'm already jealous of the future owner of this printer!

The second thing that I wanna sell is a NOTEBOOK COOLING PAD. SOLD!

Bought this at Mines 2 years ago, but it's still as good as new. I used it only for a short while with my old laptop. Now with Dell I don't need this coz, well, Dell laptops are good in terms of heat dissipation whatsoever...
I'm selling this for RM30. This notebook cooler is portable and can be slide into a smaller size, so it's ideal if you're travelling a lot.
Interested? E-mail me at shopaholic51@yahoo.com and we'll talk business :O

My Friday afternoon

Friday afternoon = long lunch hour.

Yipee.

I've always thought of Amcorp mall as a boring place. There are little kooky shops and bazaars, which, in my opinion, only sell JUNKS. But if you really explore the mall, you'll find that Amcorp mall offers some really good bargain.

My purchases:
What are these things called? Foam curlers? Whatever. I've been looking for this everywhere. I found these at a shop that sells imported hair products. Most of the hair products are not available in Watsons or Guardian. Cool!

The thing I love most about Amcorp mall is the Xcess bookstore. This is where you can find bestsellers and all other sort of books at reduced price. The prices are reduced by half. Like, for example, the Meg Cabot book I bought would cost RM35.90 at MPH or Popular, but at Xcess, it's only RM17.90! And the Chicken Soup book would normally cost RM46.90, but I got it for RM19.90! What a bargain.
Finally I went into an accessories store that sells earrings at 5 pairs for RM10. Actually earrings weren't in my shopping list, but the salesgirl offers me a basket and I would feel bad if I don't buy them so that's how I ended up with these 5 pairs of earrings. They're all pink. Haha. Not much choice though. These are the prettiest I can find.

I'm lonely again coz my mum went back to JB for a week (yeah, again) to keep my grandma company since her maid went back to Indonesia. It pissed me off though. My uncle lives nearby to my grandma and yet he doesn't have time to take care of his own mother. My mum who lives in KL has to go back to JB to stay with my grandma. It's a shame, isn't it?

First post that is 90% in BM

Hello there, I'm still alive

When I think about it, industrial training is kinda fun. I get paid to go shopping with my boss' wife and daughter. Heehee.

But what is NOT ok about industrial training (besides being bored coz I have ZERO RESPONSIBLITIES), is the pimples that are starting to show up on my face. I'm so tired and lazy to pamper my skin 24/7. And now my hormones are acting up and I'm PMS-ing, so I have large, volcano-like pimples on my face. Nice.
